Mind boggling

There is a 9% unemployment rate in this country and our economy is suffering, but things like this still happen:

  • iPhone 4S mania: There were 1 million pre orders for the iPhone 4s on the first day you were able to pre order it. All those people were prepared to drop a minimum of $200 on a new phone and about $80 – $100 per month on it’s service. The part that boggles my mind is how people can wait hours and even days in line to get one! There are people looking desperately for jobs and then there are the folks who call in sick so they can wait in line for an iPhone 4S.

Kim Kardashian’s Amazingly Huge Assets

Just saw this picture of Kim Kardashian. She’s allegedly pissed that she posed nude for “W” magazine after the fact that she posed nude for “W” magazine. I have no more words except to say, Wow!! Interpret the “Wow” anyway you want.

Goodbye iPhone….Hello Android

I have been a loyal iPhone user since the first generation. I have spent lots of cash on the phones, accessories and AT&T. I can honestly say I have a love/hate relationship with the iPhone. Apple is slowly leading the “Your iPhone experience will be what we tell you it will be” revolution. For a lot of people that’s okay, for me it’s not. Like I said, I spent a lot of money on the iPhone and I should be able to do what I want with it.

The deal breaker for me on switching from the iPhone to Android was AT&T. Their service is just terrible, especially in the New York area. I have experienced data issues and more dropped calls than I care to talk about. It has been a very frustrating experience.

Getting back to the Apple controlled experience of the iPhone. For many people, the iOS platform is just right for them. Apple carefully controls what you can and cannot access from your phone via software updates and their App Store. Apple ultimately approves or denies what you can put on your phone by approving or denying applications from going into the app store. In addition to that, Apple also wants you to get a new iPhone every year and that was made even more clear this year with the iPhone 4. Some of the core features on the iPhone 4 were not available on the iPhone 3GS or the iPhone 3G and the new iOS is not even supported on the first generation iPhone. Remember the 1st generation iPhone, the one that cost $499. Now, I can certainly understand that hardware changes make a big difference on this issue, such as the front-facing camera on the iPhone 4. Understood, but it still sucks!

I myself had an iPhone 3GS and it served it’s purpose, however, AT&T’s service killed my experience as it has for many other iPhone users and it is for that reason that I switched to Verizon and got an Android phone, the Samsung Fascinate. I have never been happier. The Samsung Fascinate, in my opinion is better than the iPhone 4.

These are the reasons I think the Samsung Fascinate is better than the iPhone 4:

  • Screen size – The Samsung Fascinate has a 4″ Super AMOLED screen. Compare it to the Retina Display and there is not much difference. The Retina display does have a larger resolution, but I challene you to look at both and say that Retina has a bigger advantage
  • Memory – The Samsung Fascinate comes with 2GB of on board memory and a 16GB micro SD card and it can support up to 32GB
  • Customization – I can customize the the Fascinate pretty much anyway I like. Background, sounds, tones, UI, etc.
  • Swype – This is arguably the best keyboard I have ever used and it can be installed on any Android device. Wonder why Apple won’t support it? Maybe because it’s something better than they can come up with.
  • Browser Choices – The stock browser is great, but you can also download different browsers like Dolphin or Skyfire.
  • Flash Support – iPhone doesn’t have and Steve Jobs don’t like it.
  • Battery Replacement – Enough said! Dumb design decision by Apple!!
  • Maps & Navigation – Google Maps and Navigation, basically I have a free GPS system with turn by turn directions
  • Network – Verizon is hands down the faster and more reliable network. Yes you can’t use Voice and Data together, but it’s a trade off I’m okay with to have better service
  • Price – You can get this phone for free through some retailers or for as little as $40. The iPhone starts at $199.

Regardless of my opinion, you will need to choose your phone based on your needs and preferences. My need was to have reliable service on my phone. Even though Verizon now has the iPhone, I still won’t switch back. I must say that I do prefer the Android OS much more than Apple’s iOS. I look forward to what Google has planned for Android as Apple will as well. Android is penetrating the mobile market like nobody’s business!

158,396 Hits and counting!!!!

I started this blog as a hobby. I wanted a place to vent and to post random thoughts and opinions. I never thought that I would get they amount of traffic that I have been getting from some of the nonsense that I have posted. I capitalized on the semi-nude pictures of Megan Fox, the mockery that is Kim Kardashian and even the HUGE jaw of Rumer Willis to name some of my exploits. My posts, recently have been few and far in between. Recently, I even had a day where my hits exceeded 12,000. I could not believe it!

I guess I should start taking this more seriously! I will still post the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry, but I will also add more interesting content.

To those of you who have visited this blog and enjoyed the content, THANK YOU and keep checking back, I won’t let you down!!!

Floyd Mayweather will fight wife, but not Pacquiao

September 14, 2010 2 comments

Today, as I scan through the news I see a report stating that Floyd Mayweather beat his ex in front of their son. I liked Mayweather, even though he talked a lot of trash about his opponents he went into the ring and backed it up. He was arrogant, but he won as well. You can’t knock him for that, if you beat the guy you talk trash about, then it isn’t trash talk it’s the truth.

Here is a guy who is arguably the best fighter in the world, pound for pound, he’s also a millionaire and should be sitting on top of the world and look what he has allegedly done. I just lost all respect for Mayweather. I can understand having an argument with your ex, I can’t understand hitting a woman, let alone hitting a woman in front of your son, then threatening to beat the kids up if they told the anyone or the police.

The sad part about this is that he was out on $3,000 bail and will probably not serve any time because of his deep pockets. Way to go Floyd! I hope he finally does fight Pacquiao and Manny beats his ass from her to next week! Mayweather does not deserve any good fortune going forward!

The New XBOX 360

September 6, 2010 Leave a comment

I am a moderate gamer who is addicted to new gadgets and I am okay with this. My wife on the other hand, not so much. I have the 3 major gaming consoles (XBOX 360, PS3, Wii) and I play them regularly, at night once everyone’s in bed….DON’T JUDGE ME!!

In comes the new XBOX 360! The games and the software are still the same, however the hardware has been updated to include a new hard drive (250GB), built in WiFi (802.11n) and a slimmed down body. Here I am with a perfectly good XBOX 360 and considering the purchase of the new console. Wait…Let me re-phrase. Here I am throwing down some hard earned cash to buy the new XBOX 360. It’s a nice new shiny console that Microsoft has promised will not crap out on you and is much quieter.

I have had the console for a few weeks now and I have to say, first, it’s really nice! The design is very eye catching, it is significantly quieter and does not get so hot that I don’t have to turn on the heat in the winter. The one thing I did notice is that when purchasing the new console, that there is a short supply of them. I went into a GameStop store to purchase the console, in tote I had my 6 year-old son. He had some Nintendo DS games he wanted to get rid of for a new game, so he was trading them in and I would foot the bill.

I’m on line with the game my son wants to purchase, now mind you I am about 8 people back, seems like I’m not the only 30 something gamer out there. As we move up the line, I hear a few lads jabbering about the new console. One of the lads says in a frustrated tone, “I went to 4 Best Buys and they didn’t have any at all”, another says “I went to a WalMart, Target and 3 other GameStops, no dice”. So, right about now, I’m thinking that I’m screwed. Great!!!

So as the line keeps moving, the 3 guys who were on the XBOX treasure hunt finally get to the register and say, “Please, if you have a heart you will answer, YES to the following question. Do you have the 250GB XBOX in stock?”. The store clerk states at the 3 guys and says, “Are you kidding?” and before the clerk finishes his statement, the 3 guys all say, “What the fuck!”. Needless to say all the people in the store begin laughing. After the laughter, the clerk says to the lads, “Please don’t curse, this is a family store!. Now, I do have the XBOX in stock, however your profanity has offended me so I am refusing to sell it to you.” The 3 guys are literally speechless and a silence comes over the store for approximately 10 seconds. The clerk then says to the 3 guys, “I’m just fucking with you”.

I know this is a bit of a side track, but I thought this was quite comical!! After the transaction of the 3 guys in front of me, I come up to bat and I tell the clerk, “I just wanted you to know that I feel your conversation with the 3 guys ahead of me was completely unprofessional and to top it off I have a 6 year old son who was just subjected to profanity from a store employee.” The clerk looks at me and begins apologizing profusely and I say to him, “I’m just messing with you. I would have said the “F” word, but he really is only 6″

Well, after all that excitement, I purchase my XBOX and my son’s Nintendo DS game.

So, I get home and unbox it and this thing is good! Very small and sleek. I was disappointed that there was no bundled HDMI cable. $299 and no HD out of the box? Well, I did have the HDMI cable from my old XBOX. Everything is now plugged in. I turn it on and it works just like my old one. I fully know that this new console will have the same content as the old, but I was still expecting something more, why, I have no idea!

The new XBOX really is whisper quiet, the DVD drive does not make much noise and if you install the game on the hard drive, you can barely hear the console at all. GOOD JOB MICROSOFT!! The wifi was quick and easy to setup, the transfer of content from one hard drive to the next was also pretty seamless. You will need to purchase the transfer cable to move your content. Even the wireless controller worked as soon as I put batteries in it, no need to connect it to the console.

There is no speed difference when it comes to games loading and there are no performance enhancements. This is simply a hardware update all around. If you have a current XBOX, there really isn’t a need to upgrade, however, if you are a gadget junky, feel free to purchase!

Best Hip Hop Album of the Year = Recovery

August 21, 2010 Leave a comment

Best Album I’ve heard in a while!! Glad to see that Slim Shady is back to the original version of himself!! I thought Encore was horrible and Relapse was forced on his part. He even admits to it in “Not Afraid”. He’s at his best when he’s angry and sober and in Recovery he is just that, but this time he’s angry at himself and not pointing the finger at his mother. His style is also a little different this time around. Doing songs with Pink and Rhianna which are both really good!

If you like hip hop and Eminem, this is a no brainer!! I’d give this album 4.5 out of 5 middle fingers
