TRADED…Manny Ramirez!!

Manny Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Seems like Joe Torre can’t get the Red Sox out of his system.

Anyway, I think this was a smart move for the Red Sox, this guy was a total distraction and so not motivated to help his team. He only wanted to help himself.

I don’t know much about playing in the Majors all I know is what I see and read in the media. I just can’t understand how a player, in general, can become so disgruntled that he would just not be motivated to play and talk bad about the ball club that pays him so much money.

This is a kid’s game played by adults. There are thousands of ball players that would sell their soul to have a chance to play in the Majors and make the type of money that Manny Ramirez is making, and these guys would never complain. Why would you???

You get to play the game you love, that’s your “job”. When you’re not playing, you are living a lavish life of houses, cars women, etc… I just don’t get it.

Bottom line is….If you are making Millions of dollars to play baseball, you should not complain AT ALL!!! There are people out there who pay alot of money to see you play, you should not be bitching about a contract in the middle of the season and play like a lazy jerk-off because you have no “mental peace”. Get a grip!

I’m a middle class father of 2 who loves baseball and would love to show my son the game and the guys who appreciate it. Frankly, Manny Ramirez is not baseball. He’s a greedy asshole who only cares about Manny Ramirez. Good Riddance Jerk-Store!!

The 2 Corey’s???

These 2 are just ridiculous. I’m not even going to go into how pathetic they are. I’m probably more famous then they are at this point. I’m no fan or would never endorse suicide, but in this case it may be necessary.

DOES MILEY CYRUS REALIZE SHE’S 15??

July 28, 2008 1 comment

I have previously written about how immature Miley Cyrus is. I just don’t get why this 15 year old girl is in such a rush to grow up. With the release of her album, you hear tons of press about it, both good and bad and I do realize that there people out there who want to see her fail. I am not one of those people. Miley Cyrus has a huge responsibility placed upon her. She is a role model to so many young girls and frankly it’s a shame that she is getting a lot of negative press about her recently exposed photos.

I honestly hope that she gets the message sooner than later, or she will end up a hollywood has been.

As the picture abovie shows, there is no reason a 15 year old girl should be posting pictures of herself in her underwear on the web. I hope Hello Kitty sues her.

Miley….Clean up your act or you will end up like Britney Spears!!

In closing…..SIGH!!

WHY IS LOSING WEIGHT SO HARD?

July 26, 2008 1 comment

The formula for losing weight is easy, just burn more calories than you take in. Your body will burn your existing body fat to make up for the difference. I mean that’s fairly straight forward and simple. I’m sure that there are experts who will say that it’s not that easy…..Come on! It really is.

Over the past 4 months I have lost 35 pounds. I kind of watch what I eat. There are plenty of times that I make poor decisions when meal times come around, but then again who doesn’t. If I go for Chinese, the eggrolls call me. If I have Pizza, I need my friends Pepperoni and Sausage to come for the ride. You get the idea.

I also work out at least 3 times a week with free weights and my wife and I have a ritual where we walk at least 2 miles every night.

Now, I have been doing okay for the most part with the weight loss. It’s not until recently that it seems to be getting harder. I feel like when I starve myself by consuming less than 1500 calories per day and working out is the only time I will see any type of weight loss.

I have set a goal for myself to lose an additional 30 pounds before the end of this year. I feel that is a reasonable goal. 30 pounds in 5 months. Not a real big stretch. However, I have noticed that once you keep doing the same physical activity that use to work….guess what, it doesn’t work anymore. So happens that your body is smarter than you. It gets use to your physical activity and adjusts for it.

So now the game plan is to change up the exercise routine and throw in an extra mile of walking distance. Hopefully that works. Oh…and no more of the following foods that can make me a fat bastard:

  • Fried Chicken (KFC) – Gonna be hard to give up the “crack” of food
  • Fast Food Burgers and Fries (McDonald’s, Burger King, etc..) -Getting sick of this anyway, so shouldn’t be too bad
  • Chinese Food – Can only have meats that are mixed with vegetables and brown rice. I draw the line at the steamed food. I need some damn flavor in my life
  • Buffalo Wings – I’m about to cry
  • Anything fried – Mozzarella sticks, potato skins, chicken fingers, etc…. WTF???
  • Ice Cream – Not too much of a problem, never really craved Ice Cream much.
  • Candy – This will actually kill me, I am a borderline diabetic
  • Carbohydrates – gotta stick to whole wheat products. I like whole wheat breads and Sweet potato fries

The above mentioned items have contributed to my once achieved full size spare tire. Now it’s more like a small donut. It also contributed to my multiple chins and sweating profusely as I just sat and typed on my keyboard. It also contributed to my lack of endurance and getting winded walking up a flight of stairs.

I can honestly say that now I do have tons more energy, more endurance and my face now only has one chin to speak of.

Incidentally, the FOOD network also contributed to my “fatness”. I lay partial blame to Paula Dean, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown and Giada DeLaurentis. A special middle finger to these chefs who make it impossible to just watch their shows without having to indulge on what they are cooking in large doses.

So, back to my original question, “why is losing weight so hard?”. I think it just comes down to this, food is just to hard to give up. So many things taste so good and the majority of it is bad for you. To have the will power to cut out those foods and possibly never eat them again is a challenge in itself. You show me a person who has sworn off Burgers, Buffalo Wings, fries, ice cream, candy, cakes, etc. and I will show you a miserable motherfucker. Eating vegetables or “Rabbit Food” is not living. If it was the FOOD network would not be around.

SIGH!!!

In closing, I am going to do what every other american starting a new form of diet does. I will eat in indulgence on Sunday because on Monday I’m going for broke.

Gears of War 2….Patiently Waiting!

The most highly anticipated game of the year will be released on November 7th, 2008. Gears of War 2 is reason enough to purchase an XBOX 360. I have seen the gameplay demos and the multiplayer demos and they are amazing.

Check the video below of the multiplayer action in Gears 2.

And yes, I am that much of a geek that I changed my banner in preparation for this game. I may even take a vacation day from work so that I can get a jump start on my gamer friends.

And one more thing, Let’s see the PS3 beat this…..HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Workplace Dress Codes

July 22, 2008 2 comments

Why do places of business have dress codes? I began to ponder this question as I have heard my co-workers complain about the business casual attire that we are all required to wear, even on weekends. I happen to work in a dungeon of sorts. The light is very dim, it’s very cold and I have no windows. Yeah, sounds like paradise.

So, in this “dungeon” where we rarely get any visitors above the level of “manager” we are still required to comply with the comapny dress code. Fine, I can understand that, if everyone in the company has to do it, then so be it. I’m not one to argue about something so petty and I also like getting a paycheck.

I wonder about dress codes for a few reasons:

  1. The 3 most successful corporations in this country, Microsoft, Apple and Google don’t have dress codes
  2. Dress codes hide the “real” persona of the employee

Now, Microsoft, Apple and Google both share the same philosophy I guess. As long as you come and do your job and continue to innovate, dress any way you want. I have to agree with this, what’s the harm of wearing a pair of jeans and a polo to work? Is working in Khaki’s going to make me perform better? No it’s just going to cause me problems when I use the men’s room (please read, “The Khaki Pants Situation“). Is wearing a button down shirt with a collar going to make me think better than wearing a polo would? NO! Either way dress codes are somewhat ridiculous, but I did read a study that says when people are dressed professionally they act more professionally.

See, now this segue’s into my next point. Dress codes hide the employee’s persona. Now, I happen to think that about 90% of the American workforce acts completely different when they are out of the workplace. They are probably not as nice, much louder and obnoxious. They probably have no reservations about cursing and after some alcohol consumption probably become much more laid back or more of an asshole. I believe that if companies let their employees dress anyway they wanted, the workplace would be much more interesting. I also feel that work attendance would be much higher.

Could you imagine the stories by the water cooler about the VP in a meeting with the “What are you looking at, Asshole?” t-shirt. What about the “ladies” who would wear the short shorts with the g-string hanging out or the fat chicks in the stretchy pants (come on, you gotta take the good with the bad). Either way, this would make me want to come to work every day. I for one would love to see how some of the people I work with act when not confined to the “dress code”.

If we want to kick it up a notch, introduce alcohol into the workplace, then you would really see who the good employees are. The bad ones would be the ones who get drunk during lunch and are passed out under a cafeteria table.

I for one believe that the no dress code and alcohol consumption policy should be introduced in the workplace, then corporations would see who they really have working for them.

Any takers? If so, I would love to fill out an application!!

What ever happend to Hootie and the Blowfish??

July 22, 2008 1 comment

I was listening to AOL radio on my iPhone and I heard an old Hootie and the Blowfish song, “Let her cry” and I began to wonder, “What happend to them?”. So I did some searches on the web and they actually are still together and perform shows.

Now they are not selling out arenas or anything like that, but they are still around. I just wonder how a band that sells 16 million copies of their debut album just vanishes after a few years. They were insanely popular and even did a music video with Dan Marino (“Only want to be with you”). How does this happen?

Well, I think I know. There follow up albums were not that good. In fact they pretty much tanked, what can you do. I guess it’s kind of like Alanis Morisette. First album was good and sold like 20 million copies and every other effort was lack luster.

Whatever…Here’s a link to Hootie and the Blowfish’s website. I’m actually going through some old CD’s to see if I actually bought their first album, “Cracked Rear View”.

Hootie! If you guys are reading this for whatever reason, than you guys are really desperate for media attention. Yikes!!

Kidding!!
