Best Hip Hop Album of the Year = Recovery

August 21, 2010 Leave a comment

Best Album I’ve heard in a while!! Glad to see that Slim Shady is back to the original version of himself!! I thought Encore was horrible and Relapse was forced on his part. He even admits to it in “Not Afraid”. He’s at his best when he’s angry and sober and in Recovery he is just that, but this time he’s angry at himself and not pointing the finger at his mother. His style is also a little different this time around. Doing songs with Pink and Rhianna which are both really good!

If you like hip hop and Eminem, this is a no brainer!! I’d give this album 4.5 out of 5 middle fingers

Jason Mraz got robbed at the Grammy’s!!

I’m watching the Grammy’s and it’s a pretty decent show. They definitley have alot of performances this year. In my humble opinion, one of the albums that isn’t getting enough credit is “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things” by Jason Mraz. I liked a few songs that Mraz had in the past, “The Remedy”, “You and I Both”, “Geek in the Pink” just to name a few.

On his newest album, I gotta say that he definitley caught my attention. The song “I’m Yours” is really good and it’s one of those songs that sticks in your head all day.Hands down, the best song on the album is “Butterfly”. It is one of the raunchiest yes classiest songs I’ve heard. If you have not heard this song, it’s worth the $.99 cents on iTunes.

As I watch the Grammy’s, I see that he is 0 for 2. He lost for Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. After his 2nd loss, the cameras were on him and you could see how pissed he was especially because on the Best Male Pop performance he lost to John Mayer for “Say”. This song probably has the most repeats of the same word EVER!!!!

I’d be pissed too!!! Jason Mraz is getting SCREWED!!

Songs People Hate

September 12, 2008 1 comment

At work we have the pleasure of listening to music. However everyone’s taste in music is different. I can honestly say that I have never seen someone get more enraged by a song that my friend John. He absolutely hates the following song and I can understand why, it makes no FUCKING sense!!! and her voice is annoying:

“Chasing Pavements” by Adele

My other friend, Brian lets a particular song drive him somewhat crazy. Why? Because when I mention it is stays in his head for at least 24 hours. It pisses him off, but makes me laugh!

“You Make Me Feel Brand New” by Simply Red

I personally like most types of music. I am partial to Hip-Hop, R&B and Latin Music. I will give most music a chance, but there are certain songs that I just don’t get or like. I honestly think that music today SUCKS! Nothing seems original anymore, especially in the Hip-Hop genre. What the Fuck are rappers talking about these days. Rappers from the South, I can barely understand you, are you speaking english? Even some of the rappers I used to like are having issues these days.

LL Cool J for one, How many songs can you make about banging chicks? How many times do I have to hear, “Tell Daddy How You Want It”? If you lick your lips one more time when you speak, I will stab you!!

Jay-Z, Young Hova, Jigga, Sean Carter……How many names? How Many? Is naming yourself multiple times cool?…No!! Is rapping about how much money you have and which celebrity you’re friends with cool?….No

A few years back these same people would have called the cops on you.

“Show Me What You Got” by Jay-Z

The biggest freakin’ jerk of Hip Hop has got to be “Diddy” or Puffy or Puff Daddy or Sean John. Again!!! Why the multiple names!!?? This fuckin’ character just dances in every video and insists on doing a voice over at the end of every song he is on. Like he’s Dr. Phil giving advice. Come On!!! Just let the song ride out without the semantics!

“Tell Me” by Diddy

The Hardest Working Dead Men

I just find it amazing how the following 2 artists still continue to have albums released with their music.

ELVIS PRESLEY

I think that Elvis is dead, but why they keep releasing albums in his name, with music that has already been released is beyond me. What’s even more amazing is that people keep buying the albums. I could understand if you lost an album and want to replace it, but if you already have every song he recorded…WHAT IS THE POINT!!!

TUPAC SHAKUR

This man blows my mind. I honetly think he’s gotta be alive. How does one man continue to release albums and with NEW SONGS. NO, they are not remixes, they are actual new songs. This is a bigger mystery than who “actually” shot him.

Either way, something to ponder.

What ever happend to Hootie and the Blowfish??

July 22, 2008 1 comment

I was listening to AOL radio on my iPhone and I heard an old Hootie and the Blowfish song, “Let her cry” and I began to wonder, “What happend to them?”. So I did some searches on the web and they actually are still together and perform shows.

Now they are not selling out arenas or anything like that, but they are still around. I just wonder how a band that sells 16 million copies of their debut album just vanishes after a few years. They were insanely popular and even did a music video with Dan Marino (“Only want to be with you”). How does this happen?

Well, I think I know. There follow up albums were not that good. In fact they pretty much tanked, what can you do. I guess it’s kind of like Alanis Morisette. First album was good and sold like 20 million copies and every other effort was lack luster.

Whatever…Here’s a link to Hootie and the Blowfish’s website. I’m actually going through some old CD’s to see if I actually bought their first album, “Cracked Rear View”.

Hootie! If you guys are reading this for whatever reason, than you guys are really desperate for media attention. Yikes!!

Kidding!!

I kissed a girl and I Liked it…..

This Katy Perry song is really catchy. I gotta say that the first time I heard it, I was hooked. The damn song stayed in my head all day, so I had to download it from iTunes…..Sigh!

I see what she’s saying in the song. I’ve kissed my wife, who is a girl and I sure do like like it!

I also think that her song, “You’re so gay” is absolutley brilliant and hysterical. Check the video.

Check Katy Perry’s site too.

Usher…Here I Stand (to download)

So I decided to purchase (download) Usher’s new album “Here I Stand“. I haven’t heard much about the album, just heard the single, “Love in this club” and it’s really good. It’s a hot track!

I definitely enjoyed his previous album, “Confessions”. I think it sold something ridiculous like 9.5 million. In the age of the peer to peer “sharing” that is saying something.

I also saw the article in Entertainment Weekly about his new album and the review was only Okay….but I never really listen to critics because people’s taste in music is always different. I have listened to the album and it has alot of really good songs. Some songs are not what I would like, but others may. The songs I really liked are:

  1. Love in this club
  2. Love in this club pt.2
  3. Love in this club (Remix)
  4. Will work for Love
  5. Best Thing
  6. Before I Met You
  7. His Mistakes
  8. Appetite
  9. What’s a man to do
  10. Revolver

Out of 18 songs on the album, I definitely enjoyed the above 10. The lyrics are good, the beats are good, just an all around excellent effort. I would definitley recommend it!!

If you don’t like R&b/Hip Hop, then this is not for you. and No, Usher is not paying me for this!
