Floyd Mayweather will fight wife, but not Pacquiao

September 14, 2010 2 comments

Today, as I scan through the news I see a report stating that Floyd Mayweather beat his ex in front of their son. I liked Mayweather, even though he talked a lot of trash about his opponents he went into the ring and backed it up. He was arrogant, but he won as well. You can’t knock him for that, if you beat the guy you talk trash about, then it isn’t trash talk it’s the truth.

Here is a guy who is arguably the best fighter in the world, pound for pound, he’s also a millionaire and should be sitting on top of the world and look what he has allegedly done. I just lost all respect for Mayweather. I can understand having an argument with your ex, I can’t understand hitting a woman, let alone hitting a woman in front of your son, then threatening to beat the kids up if they told the anyone or the police.

The sad part about this is that he was out on $3,000 bail and will probably not serve any time because of his deep pockets. Way to go Floyd! I hope he finally does fight Pacquiao and Manny beats his ass from her to next week! Mayweather does not deserve any good fortune going forward!

Open Letter to Tiger Woods

December 31, 2009 1 comment

Tiger,

I’m sure over the past month you have had time to reflect on your transgressions and I hope that this is a turning point on your personal life. I for one agree that the media and those not involved should leave you and your family alone so that you can try to mend your wife’s broken heart. I do not agree with what you did, but then again I don’t know many men who could not have done the same. If I were in your position I don’t know that I could have resisted the temptations that were presented to you.

You are one of the most recognized people on this planet and I am truly shocked at how you kept this a secret so long. At this point that doesn’t matter anymore. What should matter now is your wife and 2 children. I’m happy and sad to see you taking a break from golf. Happy because you have your family as your priority and sad because I can’t see you golf. I am a weekend golfer and I have to say the main reason I started to play was because I saw a person of color not only play at the professional level but simply dominate. The level of competitiveness you show is mind blowing. I mean when you first won the Masters by 12 strokes, I was in awe. When you played on a broken leg and won the US Open, when you did the “Tiger Slam”, these are all moments of joy for me when it comes to the game of golf. I love to play now and I owe a lot of that to you. For that I am sincerely grateful!

My son is 6 and he is old enough to understand certain things he sees and reads. He asked me about you and why people are saying mean things about you. I simply told my son that Tiger has done a bad thing to his wife and kids and left it at that. It was hard to find the words to tell him that, I cannot imagine what it will be like if and when you tell your kids about your transgressions

Having said that, I have never taught my son to look at any person as a hero who is a an athlete, actor, politician, etc. I want my kids to learn from my wife and I and look at us as role models because ultimately, that’s what a parent is. I will tell my son if he decides to play golf that he should look at your work ethic, your competitive nature and mental toughness and use that as a guide to get better at golf. Athletes are not role models for personal growth. Athletes, especially great athletes, such as yourself are models on how to get better at that particular sport.

While I don’t agree with what you did, you must have your reasons. The one thing I do think you should do is break your silence. All your supporters want to hear from you in some fashion. It will be difficult, but it will be therapeutic. Get it out in the open so you can move on with your life, heal yourself and your family first, then play the game you love.

You don’t have to answer to anyone but your wife for this. I for one am not God and will not judge you and neither should anyone else. Humans do make mistakes and right now you are paying for yours. Even criminals get a second chance, so should you.

Stay well Mr. Woods!

Do Performance Enhancing Drugs make a difference?

steroids+baseball

This era of baseball is just embarrassing, plain and simple. Professional baseball players are now walking on egg shells and they are scared to take anything for fear they will test positive in a random drug test for PED’s. My question is simple, do PED’s make a difference?

When all is said and done, you still need to have the natural ability to play the game. Baseball sounds like a simple game, you hit the ball, you catch the ball and you throw the ball. However, in it’s simplicity lies the difficulty. There will always be someone who can do it better and faster.

The most difficult thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. To hit a round ball with a round bat is very difficult. Now throw in the fact that the ball is coming at speeds above 90mph and is also moving like crazy. I don’t care how strong you are, it takes skill and practice to do this.

You may look at someone like Mark McGuire and say that PED’s helped him. Maybe they did, but what is the difference if a ball is hit 400 feet or 450 feet, it’s still a homerun. Then some may argue that the advantage comes in to effect when a homerun is just barely hit over the fence. If the player had not been taking the PED’s, would this have been a homerun? Who really knows.

I do think that there should be a level playing field and there should be no use of PED’s in any sport. However, there are teams that spend alot of money in sports medicine. There are trainers who are better than others and can get more out of an athlete. There are team doctors who have better treatments that heal athletes faster. Is this fair?

We could argue the points of this forever, but the bottom line is that I want baseball to shine again and not have this black cloud over it. I want to be able to take my son to a game and not have him ask me if any of the players are on PED’s. I want my son to also understand that there are no shortcuts in anything and that hard work is always necessary.

I would like to see a study done on an athlete that has taken PED’s and see what the results are. Show me that and I will guarantee you that that person will not b any better at his sport.

Erin Andrews……The New Hotness!

erin-andrews

So the hottest woman EVER was video taped through a peep hole in a hotel room and it made it on the internet. Have I seen said video…..NO! Do I want to see it….YES! What makes me want to see it is the fact that Erin Andrews is a beautiful woman who loves sports and knows more about sports than I do. As a man I do not feel threatened by this. Picture if you will, a gathering amongst friends and you stroll in with Erin Andrews on your arm. That in itself would be enough for most people…..However, when the subject of sports comes up and she literally wipes the floor with said friends…..BONUS!!!

What man hasn’t dreamed of a woman who actually wants to watch sports more than he does.

Anyway, ESPN and the attorneys for Erin Andrews are fiercely battling to find out how this happened and to ensure the video is not posted all over the web. This makes her even HOTTER!!! In an age where the sex tape is king, here is a woman with morals and who actually cares if strangers see her naked.

Thank you Ms. Andrews for having morals and not letting yourself turn into a Kim Kardashian (who settled for a large sum of money when her sex tape was out).

However, my morals are in question, because I would give my first born to see Erin Andrews naked!!!! Sorry, but testosterone wins this battle. See picture above…..Nuff Said!!

Michael Phelps and his 12,000 CALORIE DIET!!

August 20, 2008 Leave a comment

Since Michael Phelps has broken every kind of swimming record at the 2008 Beijing olympics there has been so much information on him and his life. I found that the most interesting is his diet. THE MAN CONSUMES 12,000 CALORIES PER DAY!!

How is this possible without gaining weight? I also learned that he burns 4,000 calories when he works out. That still leaves 8,000 calories of intake. I am in awe of how this man’s body is conditioned. The average person consumes 2,500 calories per day, so Michael Phelps eats as much as 5 people!!

So let’s see what 12,000 calories amounts too in your everyday food:

A White Castle Slider has 140 calories. It would take 85.7 of these to equal his daily intake

A McDonald’s BIG MAC has 540 calories. It would take 22.2 of these to equal his daily intake.

A McDonald’s Chicken Nugget has 47.5 calories. It would take 253 chicken nuggets to equal his daily intake.

A Nathan’s Hot Dog has 297 calories. 40 hot dogs to equal his intake.

These are just a few items of what we all consume that would equal the ridiculous amount of calories that Michael Phelps consumes. Good thing that he is getting all this endorsement money, he’s gonna need it. I also think that when his mother was crying at the Olympics, she was crying tears of joy becuase now she no longer has to feed him!!

WHO WILL GO TO THE WORLD SERIES?

August 18, 2008 2 comments

I am a Yankee Fan!! Yes, even now I am not ashamed to say it. It’s sad to see that the Yankees are the “other” New York baseball team this year. With 38 games left in the season and being 9.5 games out of first place. I just don’t see them making the playoffs this year or even getting the wild card. I have my fingers crossed, but I don’t see it happening.

In the American League, I can see the ALCS coming down to the Los Angeles Angels and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are a good team with not much experience in the post season. The Angels have a better record to this point in the season.

MY ALCS PICK: LOS ANGELES ANGELS

In the National League, I see the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers battling it out for the NLCS. The Dodgers definitely helped themselves out in the run department by getting Manny Ramirez. They also just picked up Greg Maddux from San Diego. The odds are in their favor. However, I still see the Chicago Cubs battling every step of the way. They have alot of history to overcome, but this just may be their year.

MY NLCS PICK: CHICAGO CUBS

So I see the World Series coming down to the Angels vs. the Cubs. We shall see in October!!
