Movies that deserve a remake…Part 1

August 14, 2008 5 comments

There are many movies that we all remember watching that you can quote or recall scenes that made you laugh, cry, etc. Here’s my list of some movies that I would like to see remake’s of. Now keep in mind, there are movies out there that were made just right and should not be tampered with. Hopefully I don’t hit one of those and get backlash (Calmixx or Matt)…..

The Goonies – I really enjoyed this movie as a kid. It was like being on the adventure searching for the treasure. Also, who can forget the “Truffle Shuffle” as performed by “Chunk”, or the crazy inventions by the young Asian kid, “Data”. I think the most memorable part was when the Chunk found “Sloth” and they shared a love for candy and ice cream…anyone for “Rocky Road”

E.T. (Extra Terrestrial) – I think it’s time for this to be remade. With the advancements in movie technology, this could be really cool. An all around good movie with a good story for it’s time. I definitely think that Stephen Spielberg has to be involved for this one.

JAWS – The scariest movie I have ever seen. Till this day, I am afraid of going into the ocean. I’m sure that many of you reading this only watch “Shark Week” becuase of the impact that JAWS had on you. Please don’t make thew shark roar like in JAWS 3D…..Thanks!

Fatal Attraction – Great Movie. This one borders on the “should be left alone” category, but it can be remade and maybe be even better. I could have definitely seen Heath Ledger as Michael Douglas’ character. What a loss!! Maybe Angelina Jolie and Glen Close’s character.

A Christmas Story – I may get some flack about this movie. It truly is a classic, but I think an update would be good. I can still watch this movie all day on Christmas morning.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – A classic, but could definitely benefit from an update. I could see Shia Lebeouf as the new Ferris Bueller. They should definitely consult John Hughes on the script if this does ever get done.

This is my list so far. These are movies I would definitely go see if they were remade. I will come back with part 2 of my list. Drop a comment if you have any suggestions of movies that should be remade.

So my counterpart Calmixx really dislikes Spiderman 3, the movie. He tends to take the comic book/superhero genre very seriously.

Calmixx…..Here is my tribute to you.

Dissapointed in the PS3!

March 5, 2008 1 comment

Ever since Warner Bros. went strictly Blu-Ray I knew that HD DVD’s days were numbered, so I ventured out and purchased a PS3. The PS3 was to be used mainly for watching Blu-Ray movies with the added bonus of a gaming system. I’ve had it for 2 months now and there is not one game being released that I have to have.

I also have an XBOX 360 and so do most of my friends, so I don’t have a need to buy games for the PS3.

So now I plead to SONY, please, please make some cool games!! I”ll be patiently waiting.

Top Movie of 2007

March 2, 2008 1 comment

So, being that this whole top 10 movie business is quite entertaining, let’s kick it up a notch. I want to know what your favorite movie of 2007 was…..

  1. It has to be a theatrical release within 2007
  2. Give us your opinion as to why you picked said movie
  3. Give 3 good points on the movie
  4. Give 3 bad points on the movie
  5. Go!

Just in case you need a refresh of what movies were out in 2007, check here

My 2007 top ick is……I AM LEGEND

I did not get out too much this past year, but I did want to see this movie. Will Smith has not disappointed recently with his movies. So, on my very rare occasion to go outo the movies…I made my way to see I AM LEGEND. I really enjoyed this movie. It kept my interest throughout the film. The story of a man who is immune to virus that makes peopel into blood thirsty zombies. The movie starts out with an interview of a doctor who has found the cure for cancer, however the cure turns out to have a very bad side affect. Will Smith’s character is an officer in the military who is on the brink of a cure for the virus using his own immune blood. While performing research for the cure the majority of the human population dies while a small number become infected. As far as he knows, he’s the last man on earth who is not infected.

3 Things about the movie I liked

  1. The story -I know that there have been movies made before along these lines, but I liked the angle of the cure for cancer. This would be an easy way to explain how the majority of the human race dies
  2. Will Smith – I can’t believe he use to be the Fresh Prince. I can honestly say that any movie he touches will be good. His acting in the move overall was excellent. I believed him as a doctor and as the last man on earth
  3. The Ending – I won’t spoil it for anyone who did not see the movie, but not what I expected at all. Very Well done

3 Things I didn’t like

  1. The Dog – (Spolier) – I didn’t like it when the dog had to die. Very sad. and also when the dog was riding the treadmill ( a bit much)
  2. Will Smith – There were parts in the movie where he was a bit dramatic. Talking to a mannequin in the video store and yelling at another mannequin in the street
  3. The Infected – Could of been made scarier. They looked like bald, angry old men

Well….There is my take on my pick for the best movie of 2007.

I’m waiting for my 2 counterparts to weigh in…..This should be “Entertaining”

My Top 10 Movies of all time……so far

February 29, 2008 5 comments

My friend Calmixx is a movie buff just like me, so he and I speak about alot of movies and we definitely don’t agree on some. So to entice him. Here are my Top 10 Movies of all time….so far:

10. Scarface – Who doesn’t love Tony Montana. This movie was farfetched and ridiculous at some points (Al Pacino’s accent), but all around good fun

9. Born on the 4th of July – Tom Cruise rocks!!! I don’t care that he loves scientology

8. Casino – DeNiro and Pesci, enough said

7. 300 – Excellent action movie, great visuals, great fight scenes

6. Gladiator – Russell Crowe kicked ass in this one

5. Goodfellas – DeNiro and Pesci, you got a problem with that

4. Braveheart – A brilliant period piece…..Mel Gibson was awesome….made me want to paint my face blue

3. CastAway – Tom Hanks was brilliant in this one…how can a person act as good as he did with a volleyball

2. Forrest Gump – Another Tom Hanks masterpiece. This movie was unbelievable, if you disagree, you have no soul

1. The Departed – Scorcese and DiCaprio, enough said. This was  the modern day Goodfellas, but BETTER!!

So there it is, my top 10 movies of all time…so far. I would also like to make an honorable mention to the following movies:

* A few Good Men – Tom Cruise…done!

* Gone Baby Gone – Yes, it was that good and Ben Affleck was associated to it

Ok Calmixx…..I’m ready. Until next time…keep it clean
